Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based “third-wave” behavioral therapy that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of a multitude of psychological problems, stress, and physical illness. ACT focuses on increasing psychological flexibility through mindful engagement with valued behaviors. It accomplishes this by teaching people to accept difficult thoughts, feelings, sensations, and memories, building mindfulness skills, identifying core personal values, and committing to behaviors that are consistent with those values. This will be a skill building workshop designed to help participants begin to implement ACT in their clinical work.
